I used PSS at the top of tree to create a border around the theme. I guess I could have used another JSplitter panel.

Setting SupportPseudoTransparency to true reduces the flickering

PPS not required, you can do without it, I just used it to create custom window captions . You will have normal window captions if you add the panels normally in JSplitter.
